Irish: A stór!
English: Darling!
Notes: Stór literally means treasure and can be used as a universal term of affection.

Irish: A ghrá!
English: My love!
Notes: Because Irish has a vocative tense the use of “my” is not as necessary as it is in English.

Irish: Mo ghrá thú!
English: Bravo! or You did well!
Notes: Mo ghrá thú! literally means I love you. As a good-humoured expression it is used to strongly endorse anothers actions or express satisfaction with them.

English: My child! My darling!
Notes: Expressions of affection are used much more in Irish than in English. Therefore use liberally.

Notes: Cuisle means a vein and also the pulse of the heart.

English: My fine person!
Notes: My fine person! or My fine man! as it is often rendered into English. An affirming greeting.

Notes: A strong term of affection and very suitable for saying to a child.
